Represented Louis Dreyfus Company on the acquisition and construction of a grain terminal in Azov

24 August 2021

ALRUD experts advised Louis Dreyfus Company on the acquisition of a half-finished grain terminal in Azov, and also on the completion of the terminal construction, in accordance with the EPC contract.

This is the largest grain terminal in Rostov area; it is intended to ensure grain export development in the region.

The terminal in Azov occupies an area of 20 hectares and includes two wharves and ten silos with the total capacity of 50,000 tones; it holds the potential for annual export of 1.3m tones with a loading rate up to 700 tones per hour, at both wharves. The terminal strategic location, infrastructure and storage volumes facilitate access for local manufacturers to global markets and, at the same time, creates additional opportunities for export activities. The terminal also provides services to small vessels, shipping goods to various points of destination in the Mediterranean, considerably reducing the distance between the sender and the recipient.

ALRUD specialists ensured complete support and a wide range of advisory work during the project, including issues of facilities’ due diligence, structuring of the transaction on asset acquisition, consulting on land issues, including access roads to the terminal, advice on regulatory aspects, including issues of water use, dredging, establishing a sanitary protection zone, ensuring completion of the terminal construction on the basis of the turnkey contract (EPC), terminal commissioning and accession of the territory to the sea port territory.

ALRUD team, working on the project under the leadership and supervision of Partner Anton Dzhuplin, comprised, among others, Senior Associate Stanislav Veselov and Senior Associate Timur Akhundov.
