Employers may receive the ability to digitally verify data from candidates’ CVs


The Ministry of Digital Development plans to provide employers with the ability to verify information in candidates’ CVs through state information systems. After obtaining the candidate's consent, employers will be able to verify data on candidate’s experience, length of service, and education.

According to Maksut Shadaev, Minister of Digital Development, Russian companies may receive this opportunity by the end of 2025.

The first known case of a bank being liable for sending personal data via WhatsApp


Roskomnadzor reported that a fine was imposed on a bank for sending a message from its corporate number to a debtor via WhatsApp. Following the receipt of a complaint from a Moscow resident, Roskomnadzor penalized the bank with a fine of RUB 200,000 under Article 13.11.2 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses.

As a reminder, from March 01, 2023, the use of foreign messaging apps is prohibited for the transfer of personal data when providing financial services. Such foreign messaging apps include WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, Discord and others.

Please note that the illegal use of foreign messaging apps is subject to the following fines:

  • For officials – from RUB 30,000 to RUB 50,000;

  • For legal entities – from RUB 100,000 to RUB 700,000.
