II Annual International Conference of The Russian Arbitration Association (RAA) “The Future for Arbitration in Russia. Asia in Focus” was held on April 23, 2015. Conference attendees included representatives of the Russian Ministry of Justice, as well as the International Arbitration Centres of Paris, London, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai. The conference was divided into sessions devoted to the issues of the reform of the arbitration courts in Russia, sanctions and prospects for the use of the arbitration centres in South-East Asia as an alternative to existing European centres. The Session “Reform of arbitration legislation. Current status” involved the reports of partners of such legal firms as ALRUD, Clifford Chance, Beiten Burkhardt as well as Legal Affairs Directors of Eurohim, Enel Russia, Alcatel – Lucent. The Session was moderated by Evgeny Raschevsky, Partner, Egorov, Puginsky, Afanasiev & Partners. Feodor Vyacheslavov, Partner, ALRUD, made a review of state courts practice on arbitration proceedings.
Vassily Rudomino, Senior Partner, ALRUD, moderated the Session “New Arbitration Centres”. The other participants of the discussion were Datuk Sundra Rajoo, Director, KLRCA; Habib Al Mulla, Chairman, DIAC; Yoshihisa Hayakawa, Vice-President, International Committee of Tokyo Bar Association.
