Elena Skoptsova is a Senior Associate in the Tax Practice at ALRUD Law Firm.

Elena specializes in tax and currency control law, offering services to domestic and international clients.

She has vast experience, encompassing personal taxation of high-net-worth individuals, controlled foreign company rules (CFC), tax structuring, insurance, wealth planning and financing. Elena assists clients with compliance and reporting matters, under the relevant tax and currency control laws.

Additionally, Elena participates in complex projects, related to implementation of worldwide incentive plans and pension programs.

Elena also works with banks in connection with assessment of contracts and transactions of their Russian clients, from the currency control perspective. She successfully represents clients in negotiations with tax authorities and handles disputes related to personal taxation and currency control regulations.

Elena graduated with honors from Lomonosov Moscow State University, Department of State Audit, specializing in Financial Law.

Elena joined ALRUD in 2014.

Elena is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA).

Experts from the Private Clients and Tax practices prepared the Russian chapter for the Thomson Reuters Practical Law Private Client Global Guide. This overview covers the current status of key legal issues that are of concern to high-net-worth individuals: individual tax reporting; currency control issues; family and inheritance law; the ownership and inheritance of Russian and foreign real estate; trusts and other estate planning instruments; and the creation and financial support of charitable organizations. The overview was compiled by Senior Partner Maxim Alekseyev, Counsel Kira Egorova, Counsel Elena Novikova, Consultant Elena Skoptsova, and Associates Maria Petrova and Sofia Imamutdinova.
